McDiarmid Controls offers many solutions to help you with your industrial automation systems. Some of these solutions include bar-coding systems, knife carriage systems, extruder systems, stackers, sawmill carriages, veneer lines, production report systems and much more. . McDiarmid Controls also has the ability to integrate easy to user operator interface systems consisting of touch screen panelview's or links to computer terminals depending upon the customer's preference. This allows for a flexible system that can be fine-tuned to work at optimum performance. Most systems such as our veneer stacker controls allow the user to adjust almost every aspect of the system. These systems also come with an extensive diagnostics system with screens showing you where and when faults have occurred to allow you to quickly find and resolve any problems that may arise.
Digital Veneer Line. Unlike most analog systems
currently in place, which may have as many as ten pots per drive converter
and numerous pots in a card rack, many of which require continual adjustment
to maintain the system, there are no potentiometers to be found in this system.
The result is a true digital system where all parameters are absolute values
entered via a computer interface.
Ball Screw Knife Carriage Systems. These drives
provide better peel thickness stability and less maintenance than hydraulic
carriage setworks. The drives have the ability to taper round up thickness
to compensate for lathe loading and unloading, thus eliminating thin round
up.
Stacker Control Systems. Our systems are integrated
with touchscreen consoles, giving the operator an easy and efficient way to
keep the system tuned. It also allows for a greater flexibility when adding
or changing functions to the system.
Veneer Thickness measuring.
Our system is completely digital, and is capable of 1 ms scan time and
measuring to .001”.
XY Charger controls Our system can dramatically increase

Block optimizing systems. Using lasers to measure incoming log lengths in conjunction with panelview operator consoles to display PLC generated cut solutions, we can offer you a highly efficient system that will increase productivity and in turn raise profitability.
Extruder drives. Bull motors combined with AB 1395 drives give a highly efficient system that is easy to maintain.
Smelter control systems. PLC control of the entire smelting process from mixing the batch to power management allows for a more efficient process, decreasing your power consumption and increasing your production.
